Admissions – Applying for a place at Gilmorton / Appealing against a non-admission descision

Gilmorton Chandler CE Primary School is a popular, oversubscribed school. Our planned admission number for each year group is 30.

Mid Year Admissions:

If your child has already started school and you are thinking of moving them to us, or if you are moving into the area, please ring us on 01455 552 343 to see if we have any places available and also to book a tour of the school with a representative of the school’s leadership team.

First Time Admissions:

If your child is coming up to school age and you are looking for a place in our upcoming Reception class then you will need to complete Leicestershire County Council’s admissions requirements (found here). The national closing date for children starting in September 2019 is 15th January 2019. Leicestershire County Council Admission’s department will endeavour to make the results of the admissions process known on 16th of April 2019.  (disclaimer: We have no control over the content of external websites.)

Inspiring Primaries Academy Trust is the admission authority and delegates the decision making to each individual school. Therefore you also need to also fill in and return to us, our Governor Admissions Form. The closing date for getting our form back to us is 22nd February 2019.

Appealing against a non-admission decision:

If you have applied for a place for your child(ren) at Gilmorton Chandler CE Primary School but have been unsuccessful then you have the right to appeal the decision. As we are a Church of England school you will need to contact Ian Jones at the Leicester Diocesan Board of Education on:

The closing date for the submission of an appeal against a First Time Admission decision is Monday 3rd of June 2019. Appeals will be held during the period commencing Monday, 17th June to Friday, 5th July.

Appeals against in year admission decisions will be heard at the next available hearing date. These hearings occur regularly throughout the school year.
